“Pieta” Original Ink Drawing by Roben B. Taglienti.
The Pieta, “The Pity” by Michelangelo Buonarroti, 1498-1499, in Carrera marble. The scene of the Pieta shows the Virgin Mary holding the dead body of Christ after his crucifixion, death, and removal from the cross, but before he was placed in the tomb. I have focused on the Virgin Mary to highlight her graceful acceptance of the death of her son, Jesus with which can only be described as holy and unfathomable.
